Sookmyung Women’s University is a private university in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1906, Sookmyung is Korea’s first royal private educational institution for women. It has long history of educating female leaders in history.It is one of the best-known universities in South Korea, also considered to be one of the top universities in Korea. Sookmyung Women's University has Korea's finest ROTC program as well as culinary major.The Defense Ministry has chosen Sookmyung Women's University as Korea's first university to operate the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program for women. In addition, Sookmyung's ROTC program received the best evaluation in the 2012 national military training exercises.Sookmyung Hospitality Business School has been recognized by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology since 2007. The First in Korea

Soongsil University's root trace back to 1897, when Dr. W. M. Baird, an American missionary started teaching from his residence in Pyong Yang and was then given the title of the first university in Korea. Later during the Japanese occupation and Korea lost its sovereignty, Soongsil University made national liberalization its top priority and took the lead in the national independence movement. In 1938, the school even decided to close down in protest against forced worship at Japanese shrines. Even throughout Korea's tumultuous history, Soongsil has always striven to be the first.
